The Classic
The sweet spot for most visitors — enough time for a deep jeep safari, sunrise birding and an unhurried taste of Tharu village life.
Day One
River & forest
Canoe on the Rapti
A traditional dugout float past crocodiles, gharial and waterbirds as the day begins.
Guided jungle walk
On foot with trained guides through sal forest and grassland edges.
Elephant Breeding Centre
See domesticated elephants and calves at close range without riding.
Tharu cultural show
Community-run stick dance and songs in Sauraha.
Day Two
Deep into the park
Birdwatching session
The grasslands and lakeside at dawn — prime time for Chitwan's 500+ species.
Jeep safari toward Kasara
A full-day 4WD safari deep into the park, with a strong chance of rhino and deer and the headquarters area around Kasara.
Riverside sunset
Wind down on the Rapti riverfront as the light goes gold over the floodplain.
Day Three (optional)
Culture & the buffer zone
Tharu village & museum
Visit a buffer-zone village and the Tharu Cultural Museum & Research Centre to understand the people of the Terai.
Bis Hajar Tal wetlands
The "Twenty Thousand Lakes" — a Ramsar wetland of oxbow lakes, superb for a final round of birding.
